There is no clear cut answer to this age old question. The one you opt for depends on factors like what you will be watching, what size you need and your budget. However, there are inherent disadvantages in both the technologies. For instance,Plasma T.V.’s can render blacks far more efficiently than LCD’s. Plasma’s have higher view angles, which means if you are sitting off to one side, the image quality won’t change. They are also better for fast moving images(mainly sport and movies). And finally plasma T.V.’s are more affordable than LCD’s for the same screen size. However, plasma’s are showing there age. Many are not full HD. They are still susceptible to ‘burn in’-the permanent etching of a static image on the inside of the screen when left on for too long. Plus they have glassy, reflective screens and often get washed out in brightly lit rooms. LCD’s are the newer technology. You will find a lot more full HD LCD’s. They have longer lifespans, compared to average plasma(plasma tend to get dimmer over the time). LCD’s also work better with video games. The major tings that might be deal breakers for you after a demo will be the unnaturally sharp and bright images of LCD’s or the reflectivity and washed out images of a plasma under bright light. What’s your call??:)
